Have you just moved to the Student Village? Donât know anyone or anything around here yet? Feeling nervous about your new home and your new studies?
Donât worry! Student Village West Residentsâ Committee is hosting a free, relaxed, low-threshold event for all residents of the Student Village on Saturday, August 15th, starting at 3:00 PM. Itâs a great opportunity to meet your neighbours, get to know the neighbourhood, and hear about all the things that happen here and the activities you can take part in. And who knows, you might even get the chance to taste the committeeâs legendary sima (a traditional Finnish mead/lemonade)! There will also be other free treats available for everyone.
The event will be held at the Student Villageâs legendary clubroom, Kerhis. The address is Ylioppilaskylä 8D 4, Turku (naturally). Kerhis is located on the ground floor of the red building. The entrance is through the green door on the courtyard side, along Keltanokanpolku, opposite Tyyssijaâs gym.
There is no need to register or prepare for the event in advance. You can come and go whenever you like during the event, which runs from 3 PM to 11 PM.
You are welcome to bring your own drinks and other refreshments, whatever you like, and as much as you like. Kerhis has a grill, stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator and freezer, as well as a wide selection of kitchen utensils and cutlery. Inside, there are plenty of tables, chairs and sofas. There are also several places to sit in Kerhisâs own courtyard. Indoors, youâll also find a home theatre with a projector screen and a computer connected to it, which you can use to watch movies, listen to music, and more. Kerhis also has toilet facilities.
